STRIKE, OCT 14th IS SUSPENDED

LOCAL GOVERNMENT STRIKE ON 14 OCTOBER

IS SUSPENDED

MEMBERS TO BE CONSULTED ON NEW PROPOSALS

Following intense last minute negotiations I can report that the local government trade unions and employers have agreed to release new pay proposals for consultation.  This will give members the chance to have their say and that means we are able to suspend the strike planned for next Tuesday 14 October.

I will issue full details of the consultation process over the next few days as well as information about the proposals which are based on a two year settlement.

This has been a very difficult set of negotiations and as we move towards deciding whether to accept the outcome or not can I thank all GMB members for your patience and support.
