Info’ on Obtaining Lateral Flow Kits in Central Bedfordshire

You will be aware there have been difficulties nationally in meeting the demand for lateral flow testing kits. This has been driven by more people testing before they meet friends and family over the holiday period.

In addition, on Wednesday 22 December self-isolation guidance was changed with immediate effect to enable COVID-19 positive individuals to end self-isolation after seven days, following two negative Lateral Flow Device (LFD) tests taken 24 hours apart.

There is further guidance for health and social care staff, who must continue to demonstrate negative LFD tests to work from day 8 onwards. Please go to:

www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection

We encourage all staff to access test kits through the available routes which are outlined at: www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/info/135/coronavirus/919/rapid_tests

Home delivery may be the most convenient route for many of you, however we want to remind you that all of our libraries stock the test kits and we also have a mobile offer. Both of these routes will protect stocks for council and NHS workers who just need to show their ID badge.

So, if you are having difficulties getting test kits, particularly to allow you to end your period of self-isolation early or return safely to front-line duties please take advantage of these protected stocks.

Kind regards
