Pay for NJC Staff re Queen’s Jubilee Extra Bank Holiday

Very soon we will be celebrating 70 years’ service of Her Majesty the Queen, and the Platinum Jubilee weekend at the beginning of June. This will mean that the late May bank holiday will be moved to Thursday 2 June 2022 and an additional bank holiday added for the Jubilee on Friday 3 June 2022, giving us a total of nine bank holidays in the next leave year. Most staff are on NJC terms and conditions and will be entitled to this additional bank holiday as a day off, with a normal day’s pay (pro-rata for part-time employees). If you need to work on the bank holiday (for example, if you are scheduled to work on this day within a 24/7 service), then you will be compensated for that day in the same way as other bank holidays that are worked in your service area. If you are on NJC terms and conditions and you work Term Time Only (TTO) As the half term holiday coincides with the Jubilee, you will receive an additional day’s pay for Friday 3June 2022.An adjustment has been made to the TTO calculations which will see the extra day added to pay for the year commencing 1 April 2022.As this is a paid bank holiday for TTO staff, services should not make plans for staff to take the bank holiday back as time off, at any other time.

If you are on Teachers’ terms and conditions The additional bank holiday will be in accordance with the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document in which the Teachers’ working year has been reduced by a day (194 days). The day you are not required to work during the Summer Term must be agreed with the Manager of the Service to ensure our support to schools is not affected.
