On 28 February 2026 NEU will begin balloting their members – including support staff – asking if they are willing to take industrial action on the DfEs recommendation to the School Teachers Review Board (STRB) for an unfunded 6.5% pay increase (over 3 years) and the issue of teacher workload.
Many support staff will be thinking that industrial action could result in NEU being able to win the funding to secure an above inflation pay increase for them.
NEU is a teacher’s union and cannot negotiate on pay for support staff whose T&Cs are covered by the Green Book (Teachers are covered by the Burgundy Book T&Cs).
